A full house of over a hundred people in Park Hall last night (8 December) enjoyed a very stimulating and entertaining  evening when the Harpenden Gardening Society hosted BBC Radio 4’s ever popular ‘Gardeners Question Time’. A range of gardening topics from compost composition to outlandish potatoes and replacement ideas for a soon to be felled 200 year old beech tree were enthusiastically and knowledgeably  answered by the expert panel of Matthew Biggs, Ann Swithenbank and James Wong, ably chaired by Eric Robson. Interestingly the panel are given no advance information of the questions which made their immediate answers demonstrate their incredible knowledge and professionalism.

The Harpenden recording will be aired on Friday 18 December at 3.00pm and repeated on Sunday December 20 at 2.00pm. It will then be available on the BBC i player.
